THE leader of the 2nd Devizes Guides has spoken of her pride in the achievements of four of her Guides.

Paula Postlethwaite, leader of the 2nd Devizes Guides said the foursome were presented with Baden Powell Challenge Awards on Thursday, November 8, at Devizes Guide Headquarters.

Abi Read 14, Alanah Evans 14, Millie Stagg 13 and Rebecca Napper 14 have been working towards the award for the last 18 months.

They had to complete ten challenges on five themes. They had run theme evenings at Guides such as cooking, Chinese New Year, sports and fashion. They also completed posters about themselves, extended hobbies, as well as gaining badges and making bivouacs. Abi completed her Guide camp permit in May, running a camp for five guides by herself. All the girls finished the award with a challenge weekend away in Romsey, meeting guides from around the county who were also completing their awards

Paula Postlethwaite said: “The girls have been loyal and enthusiastic in their years in guides. They have shown excellent leadership skills and great sense of humour.

"They also have had very supportive families who have encouraged them to be guides and complete this award.

"We are proud of the Guides in attaining their Baden Powell Challenge Badges.”
