TRIBUTES have been paid to a Frome College media teacher who died in a crash on the A36 on Tuesday along with her unborn son.

Anna Kirsopp-Lewis, 34, from Warminster, sustained significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the accident scene on Black Dog Hill near Warminster.

The teacher had been driving towards Bath in a grey Peugeot 2006 when she was in collision with a black Porsche Cayenne between Chapmanslade and Beckington.

Frome College has issued a statement on its website saying: "It is with great sadness that Frome College announce that our Media teacher, Anna Kirsopp-Lewis and her baby lost their lives in a car accident on Tuesday.

"Anna was an inspirational teacher who cared deeply for all her students. She was a dear colleague, whose strength and commitment will be so missed by everyone at the College, and all who knew her. Our thoughts are with her family at this tragic time.

"As a remark of respect, Frome College will close at 3pm on Thursday for the Christmas holiday. A letter with more information is on our website here.

"Our Sixth Form Presentation has been cancelled, and will be rescheduled in the New Year.

"In the New Year, we will plan a celebration of Anna’s life, and her great work here at Frome College."

Mrs Kirsopp-Lewis taught literacy and media studies to Year 9-11 students at the college, where she was highly regarded.

Disraught Frome College students have placed flowers outside the teacher's room.

Other students are being encouraged to wear something blue on the last day of the term in memory of their teacher who was expecting a baby boy.

Her family and friends are being supported by a specially trained family liaison officer.

The driver of the Porsche, a 61-year man from the Bath area, was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol and is said to be in a critical condition.

Wiltshire Police spent 12 hours investigating the accident and closed the A36 until the early hours of Wednesday morning.

They are appealing for anyone with dashcam recordings to contact them in relation to the run to the accident, which happened around 1pm on Tuesday.

Sgt Andy Moreton said: “This is an extremely upsetting incident and our thoughts are very much with the family of the woman involved at this time.
