CHILDREN at St George's C of E Primary School in Semington spent their last day of term gathering donations for Melksham Foodbank.

Pupils had a non school uniform day on Friday to celebrate the end of term before Christmas and each child was asked to bring in a donation for the foodbank.

Pip Hunt, head of the school said: "All of our donations will help to keep those who need support going through January next year when the Foodbank struggles to keep up with demand."

Melksham foodbank is a scheme run by a small group of volunteers from Melksham Family of Churches.

The foodbank provides two types of parcels, one for a single person and one for families.

A spokesman from the foodbank said: "We are grateful for the generous support of people, schools and organisations from Melksham and the surrounding area over the last 10 year, as are the families and individuals who have received food boxes in that time."
