A TROWBRIDGE pub landlord has been given the go-ahead for his plans to create a late-night entertainment venue for the town.

Kyriakos ‘Kevin’ Christodoulou, 42, wants to extend his trading hours at the Stallards Inn from 2.30am until 4.30am on Friday and Saturday.

Trowbridge town councillors had objected to his plans on grounds of possible noise and disturbance.

On Tuesday, the council’s town development committee decided to withdraw its objection after hearing there were no objections from police or Wiltshire Council.

Mr Christodoulou told councillors he had agreed to meet conditions imposed by the two organisations and that the pub’s future might depend on extending its trading hours.

He said: “My future plan for the Stallards Inn is to have a thriving pub/nightclub. I am aware of possible concerns regarding noise and security and want to assure the public that I take this seriously.

“I have had meetings with environmental health and the licensing officer, who have both inspected the property. They have made some conditional recommendations which I intend to follow, as I want this venture to be successful.

“To date, no-one has made a complaint regarding noise and I do not intend for that good record to change.

“My hope is to provide a welcoming, fun-filled place where the locals can come to dance the night away.”

From February 19, Mr Christodoulou hopes to stage late nights for the LGBT community in Trowbridge and cocktails. He wants to attract customers who are travelling into Bath and Bristol for late-night entertainment.

He added: “We need more premises in the town to offer later opening times to keep the customers in Trowbridge, which will help all the establishments that open at night.”
