PUPILS at Seend Primary School have donated scores of items to help people in need after Christmas.

They have filled a supermarket trolley full of post-Christmas goodies for Melksham Foodbank.

Headteacher Jackie Chalk said: “I haven’t counted them yet, but our trolley is full to overflowing.

“The whole school is taking part and some of the children have brought in items each day.

“We going to need a second container to hold them all before the foodbank collects them on Friday.”

More than 100 children and staff have taken part in the reverse advent calendar for the foodbank at Melksham Baptist Church.

She added: “We have collected for the foodbank before but previously only on one mufti day at the end of term. This is the first time that we have collected over a period of weeks. We were asked to provide post-Christmas items to help the foodbank to re-stock to help people in need.”

“I’m really proud of them. Each day the children are enjoying adding the packets, tins boxes and jars into the trolley.

“This is an easy and fun way of supporting local families who are not as fortunate as most of the children are at Seend.”
