WILTSHIRE companies and their employees are being urged to enter this year’s Walk of Life to raise funds for the Forever Friends Appeal at Bath’s Royal United Hospital.

Last year’s event raised an incredible £110,000 and organisers are hoping to match or beat that target this year.

The popular sponsored walk from Bishops Cannings to Bath along the Kennet & Avon Canal towpath takes place on Saturday, May 11 and Corporate Challenge spaces are now open for you to register your interest.

Forever Friends Appeal spokeswoman Rosie Scott, from the RUH NHS Foundation Trust, said: “This year marks our 20th Year of Fundraising so we’d love to have you as a part of our special celebrations.

“Last year’s walk raised an incredible £110,000 and we hope that with your help, the walk will continue to raise thousands more.

“Whether you walk in memory of a loved one, to show support for someone going through treatment or to take on the challenge we hope to see you at the start line in May.

“Our hospital touches the lives of over half a million people across Bath, Somerset and Wiltshire. It’s where our babies are born, where our broken limbs are repaired, where we are treated and cared for, learn to manage long-term conditions and so much more.

“You can choose to walk for any area of the hospital that is close to your heart and the funds you are able to raise, will help fund extra special projects and state-of-the-art equipment beyond the remit of the NHS that will transform care and make a real difference to patients, when it matters most.”

The Walk of Life is open to both men and women, with the choice to take part in the 26.2-mile walking marathon or 10-mile afternoon walk.

Entry is £25 per person and includes your own T-shirt, medal, water and treats on the day, plus lots of support.
