A BRADFORD on Avon pensioner is trying to track down the name of the boy who stood alongside him in a Christ Church Primary School football team photograph.

The photograph, which dates back to the 1956/57 season, shows a teacher, Mr

Logan, with 15 members of the football team.

Barry Britten, who is pictured third from the left on the back row, next to Mr Logan, is trying to identify the boy stood next to him, wearing a white shirt.

Mr Britten, now 72, said: “I can remember the names of most of the boys in the team except the one to my right.

“I think the photo was taken sometime in 1956 or 1957 when we were all aged about 10 or 11.

“I am standing immediately to the right of Mr Logan, and the boy whose name I can’t remember, is standing next to me.

“I can remember the others, including Bernard Wiltshire, Keith Dobson, Leslie Stevens, David Powell, Roderick Gunstone, David Harper, David Maslen, Graham Williams, and my best man Steve Wilkins, who later died.”

After leaving secondary school, Mr Britten became a civil servant, working mostly for the Ministry of Defence in Bath, Wales, London and Portsmouth. He retired in 1997 at the age of 51, after living in Devon and experiencing five months of non-stop rain.

“My wife, Patricia, and I now live in Bergerac in the Dordogne region of south west France, where the climate is more sunny.

“I am curious as to who the boy is, as I just can’t remember his name,” said Mr Britten, who has two sons and a grandchild.
