COPPICE Hill in Bradford on Avon was sealed off for more than four hours this afternoon following concerns for the welfare of one of its residents.
Around a dozen police officers, the ambulance service and two Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue appliances attended an incident from 12.40pm onwards.
The closure of Coppice Hill and the B3107 Holt Road from New Road to Silver Street and the junction with Market Street caused some delays for drivers travelling through the town centre.
A Wiltshire Police spokeswoman said: “We have received a report about concern for the welfare of a person at a property in Coppice Hill, in Bradford on Avon.
“Due to the nature of the concern, we have put in place a highly-precautionary response, which has included asking for assistance from the fire service.
“We know the emergency services’ presence in the town may look alarming but we want to reassure the local community that there is no wider risk to the public.
“Coppice Hill and Silver Street are currently closed and we would urge the public to be patient while we deal with this incident.”
The incident was over by around 5pm and the roads reopened. It is expected that the Wiltshire Coroner will be informed.
