PUPILS at the Corsham School raised £415 for local charity Hannah’s Trees at their Winter Wonderland year 7 disco, complete with snow machine, hot chocolate and candy canes.
Year 7 tutor Hayley Ghent nominated the Calne-based charity, which was set up by the parents of Hannah Owen, who died when she was just 13 in December 2009 from a brain tumour recurrence.
Hannah’s favourite time of year was Christmas, and the charity raises money for Christmas trees for children’s hospices.
Year 7 learning manager, Emma Fairbairn said: " I am very proud of the students raising such a lot of money for a very worthwhile cause whilst at the same time dancing the night away."
Chrissie Lamb, charity trustee, said she was overwhelmed and deeply touched by the amount of money raised by the pupils and staff. She explained how special it was to her and the charity to receive donations raised by young people in the local community that will help make magical memories for very special local families.
"Thank you and your wonderful pupils and staff for making raising money so much fun and for thinking of Hannah’s Trees," she said.
