BIG-hearted Riley Langford got on his bike on Christmas Day and raised £300 for the Teckels animal rescue and rehoming centre.

Riley, aged nine, from Calne, told his mum Annabelle he wanted to do something for charity on Christmas Day. “He felt bad that he got all the presents and that some people didn’t have much,” she explained. “He said he wanted to give back something. I looked into helping the homeless but unfortunately due to his age he was unable to help out there. My mum then phoned me and said she’d seen Teckels animal sanctuary, based in Gloucester, on the news, they were at risk of closing so we decided to something to raise money for them.”

Lucky Riley received a new bike for Christmas from his grandparents so he and his mum set off on Christmas morning and cycled from Calne to Chippenham, Lacock, Melksham and back, a round trip of about 20 miles, raising £300 sponsorship in the process.

“Riley is a keen animal lover and was so thrilled to raise money for the animals,” his mum said.

“We’ve also been fostering a dog over Christmas which we may end up keeping because he’s so cute. As well as all this we also visited Goatacre Farm sanctuary and donated lots of food to the animals there. Riley is just animal mad!”
