PHOTOGRAPHER Clive Greenland, from Corsham, is in the running for a major award for his image of the Red Arrows.

The Societies of Photographers has nominated him for the award of Photographer of The Year for his Gold Award image of the Red Arrows in the Events category. If successful, Clive will stand a chance of winning Overall Photographer of The Year. He is attending the Societies of Photographers presentation evening on Friday (January 18) at the Novotel in London. Each winner will be presented with a trophy.

Clive won third place this year in the Societies of Photographers 'In the Wild' contest with his photo of three black kites scrapping for food mid-air near Andover.

"Birds in flight is one of the most challenging genres of photography to capture," Clive said. "The kites produced incredible aerial agility to catch the food mid-air. They fight for the food, which produces mid-air battles but it is very difficult to capture a well-balanced and sharp image."
