AFTER a gap of more than four months the bells of the parish church of St Peter's in Lilbourne will ring out.
On Sunday, January 20, there will be a re-dedication service led by Archdeacon Sue Groom before the retuned bells are rung. The six bells dating from 1789 were taken to Taylor’s Bell Foundry in Loughborough to be retuned and renovated while the bell-frame was also refurbished ready for a test ring before Christmas. Unfortunately this was put back and eventually took place on January 4.
To fund the renovation volunteers raised thousands of pounds while grants made up the cost of around £100,000.
