POLICE are appealing for information following a fail to stop in Melksham this morning.

Between 6am and 7am, a 41-year-old man was driving a Skoda Rapid in Eastern Way close to the Water Meadow pub, when a vehicle drove into the back of his car.

When the man got out of his car, he was then struck by the offending vehicle, which made off from the scene.

The victim sustained an arm injury and was seen to by paramedics.

Enquiries were carried out and a 60-year-old man was arrested later this morning on suspicion of dangerous driving, GBH with intent, failing to stop and failing to report a road collision.

He has been taken to custody in Melksham for questioning and his vehicle has been recovered for further enquiries to be carried out.

PC Vicki Pegrum said: “I’d like to urge motorists who were in this area of Melksham this morning to please check their dash cams – you may have footage which could help our enquiries.”
