RUNNERS in South Swindon can get a subsidy to pay for their entrance to this year’s Swindon Half Marathon.

South Swindon Parish Council has agreed with the company putting on the event to contribute £10 towards the entrance fee to encourage health and wellbeing in the local community.

Full details on which areas of the town are within the parish council and the entry process will be published on the website in the next few weeks, ready for a February launch of the 2019 race.

It will be limited to the first 500 runners from within the qualifying areas.

The race for this year will be on September 22 and will start at 9.30am at the County Ground and finish on Commercial Road.

Organisers say the later start time has been agreed in order to attract more people from outside Swindon to the race.

The start time of 8am was thought to put off many runners from coming from further afield last year.
