IT’S time to have your say on the North Bradley neighbourhood plan as councillors are keen to take it to the next stage.

The plan, which has been put together by the parish council, focuses on keeping North Bradley separate from Trowbridge by stopping houses being built on the land between the parish and the town.

The parish council has been working on the plan for the last three years and is now urging people to vote during its last stages.

Policies in the plan say no further large-scale developments should be built within the parish but the building of affordable housing, eco-housing and retirement properties would be encouraged.

It goes on to say how the Peace Memorial playing field, Pine Walk and Oak Drive recreation area, the allotments and Trowbridge town football ground will be protected from development.

One policy also says that all development applications will have to be accompanied by an ecological report and will have to contribute towards local infrastructure.

North Bradley clerk of the parish council Karin Elder said: “We need everyone’s comments to help shape the final decision.

“The plan gives parishioners direct power to deliver their vision of the change they want to see.

“A key issue has been keeping North Bradley separate from Trowbridge, which the plan will help to do.

“It is important to highlight the fact that the parish will be seriously affected by Wiltshire Council’s proposals for housing areas.

“There has been some difficulty in safeguarding the landscape gap between the parish and Trowbridge.

“The plan outlines the gap and the areas proposed for housing by Wiltshire Council.”

Cllr Horace Prickett said: “We had our first meeting on this plan in 2017 but have been thinking about it for years before then.

“We now need residents to make their comments so we can take it to the next stage.

“Once residents’ comments are made it will be voted on by residents in the parish.”

There will be three consultation events at the Parish Baptist Church on Friday, February 8 from 4-9pm and two on Saturday, February 9 from 10am-12pm and 2pm-4.30pm.
