THE double bus shelter in front of the newsagents in Trowbridge town centre shattered this morning (Thursday) after a lorry collided with it.

Police officers and ambulance crews attended the scene in Market Street around 11am after the large lorry caught the top of the bus shelter, causing it to shatter.

The driver of the lorry was breathalysed on the road side and staff from Trowbridge town council neighbourhood services worked to clear the glass from the pavement.

Witnesses say no one was stood in the bus shelter at the time of the accident. Someone was stood next to it but no one was injured.

The lorry is partially blocking the road as police take statements. The road is expected to be cleared shortly.
