The Theatre Royal Bath will close its box office for bookings online, over the phone and over the counter from Sunday February 10 till Thursday February 14 in order to launch a new ticketing system.

The theatre sells hundreds of tickets every day to customers locally, nationally and internationally for shows in the main house, Ustinov Studio and the Egg. After a long consultation process, theatre management has worked behind-the-scenes to select a new ticketing system and prepare for the switch over.

They say the new system, Spektrix, which is already used by over 380 arts organisations across the UK and at major venues in London’s West End, offers a huge range of benefits which make booking procedures easier.

Theatre-goers wishing to book for A Song at Twilight in the Main House and Blue Door in the Ustinov Studio - which are being staged at the Theatre Royal next week - will be able to purchase tickets from mid-afternoon on Tuesday February 12.

The full Box Office service is expected to be back in operation selling tickets for all shows and events from mid-afternoon on Thursday February 14. If the new service is operational sooner than expected, the Theatre Royal will update customers to let them know via email, Twitter and Facebook.

Danny Moar, Director of the Theatre Royal Bath, said:

“We are delighted to be able to install a brand new ticketing system at Bath’s Theatre Royal. We always strive to provide the best possible service for our customers and this major upgrade will help us to do just that.

"Our team is working hard to ensure that the transition is as seamless as possible. In the meantime we thank our patrons for their patience and understanding whilst the switch over takes place. We are excited by the benefits the new box office system will bring and look forward to sharing them with the thousands of theatregoers who book tickets to watch live performances here at the Theatre Royal every week.”

Prior to the installation of the new ticketing system next week, the box office will be open as normal until Saturday February 9 for counter and telephone bookings from 10am to 8pm on 01225 448844, and online at theatreroyal.org.uk until Sunday February 10.
