It’s the end of an era for two launderette owners who have sold the business after running it for more than 20 years.

Andrew Lanham-Cook and his wife Sue have been running the Rainbow Launderette in Timbrell Street, Trowbridge since 1996 and have been responsible for washing the clothes of some high-profile people.

Over the years Mr and Mrs Lanham-Cook have washed sports kits for the town’s rugby club, had a jam session with an American boyband and been featured in a Channel 4 documentary.

Mr Lanham-Cook said: “It does feel like the end of an era and it will be strange not having the launderette anymore, but we decided it was time to retire.

“We have really enjoyed having the launderette and have a few stories from over the years inckluding meeting some celebrities.

“Dee Dee Wilde has brought her laundry in here many times.

“Now we are retiring my wife has made me a long list of decorating that she wants done.”

Rainbow Launderette has been sold to new company.
