RAINBOW colours are flying outside the Wiltshire Council offices to mark the start of LGBT History Month.

This year the theme is peace, reconciliation and activism.

The newly formed Trowbridge Pride group are also celebrating the history month and have more events planned throughout the rest of the year in the town. The group is currently bidding to become a registered charity.

Trowbridge Pride formed in October and put on a display in Tesco over the weekend tracing the history of the LGBT movement for equality.

Tara Taylor, 31, has been to Bristol and Brighton Pride and hopes to see Trowbridge host its very own Pride in the future.

She said: “The LGBT History Month ties in really well with our group as it is quite new.

“I have lived in Trowbridge nearly my whole life and it is great to see something like this in the town.

"Trowbridge can get a bad rap sometimes so this is good to have something that will break down barriers.

“We have had a great reception so far especially from some businesses including Tesco and Leykers. We had a couple of negative comments like you always get on social media but apart from that we have had a great response."
