TWO BBC MasterChef champions are to cook up a storm at a new food festival taking place in Bradford on Avon this summer.

Winner in 2016 Jane Devonshire and locally-based Ping Coombes, who won in 2014, will be demonstrating their culinary skills at the Bradford on Avon Food and Drink Festival on Saturday, June 1 at Victory Field.

They will be joined by local celebrity baker Richard Bertinet from Bath; two Great British Bake Off contestants, finalist Stephen Carter Bailey and semi-finalist Briony May; and local chefs Rob Allcock, Pravin Nayer and Jethro Lawrence.

The one-day festival is being organised by Jon Hackett and Lotte Duncan, of Scrumptious Food Festivals Ltd, which runs the Thame Food Festival in Oxfordshire.

They said: “Our aim is to promote and celebrate fabulous local and national artisan food producers within a fun, vibrant family festival.”

“There will be plenty of amazing food and drink to eat, lots of wonderful shopping opportunities and plenty to keep people occupied.”

There will be celebrity and local chef demonstrations on the Magimix Demonstration Stage, as well as food products on display from local and national artisan and street food producers.

Children will be kept busy at a children’s activity area run by Julia’s House Hospice and there will be a fun dog show run by Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Other attractions include a pop-up pub care of FestivAles highlighting local breweries and cider makers, and live music.
