RESIDENTS in Winsley have been urged to remain vigilant following an attempted break-in and a number of unidentified drones being seen flying in the area.
Roy Ludlow, of Winsley Neighbourhood Watch team, said a Tyning Road estate resident had returned from holiday to find someone had unsuccessfully attempted to break into his garage.
He added: “The resident did not report the matter to the police, as he felt that no action would be possible; my own view, which I am sure PC Andrew MacLachlan would support, is that such matters should always be reported.”
Mr Ludlow said building work in Tyning Road means there is a good deal of building material being left around which could prove a temptation to a potential thief.
“With so many workmen legitimately in the area, it is impossible to know if anybody is there without good reason.”
A number of drones have been seen in the Tyning Road area but no-one knows where they are being flown from.
