THE Trowbridge Prince’s Trust group has started work on a community project to renovate the textile garden in Union Street, Trowbridge.

The team of young people have taken on the challenge of completing the work in just 10 days.

The group has been looking for ideas on what the public would want from the space by issuing a survey and has now started the work on the garden, which is scheduled to be finished next Thursday.

So far they have created a seating area, dug out a pond and are working in collaboration with artists at the Town Hall Arts to have a sculpture in the garden.

Georgia Elson, team leader of the Prince’s Trust programme in Trowbridge said: “It is a very busy and intense 10 days to make sure the work gets done, but we have 12 very capable young people completing the job.

“They are doing really well but I am sure they will be aching by the end of it.

“We have also had a bit of help from the town council as they own the garden.

“It’s great for them to be able to do this for the community and be proud every time they walk past it, which will be most days.”

The newly refurbished textile garden will be unveiled on Thursday, March 7 at 1pm.
