BUDDING young entrepreneurs of all ages were invited to catering company apetito’s headquarters to listen to four key speakers who have made their own businesses a success.
The event was held by digital company GOFISH as part of its monthly young entrepreneurs’ club which encouraged youngsters to create and develop their own business.
Inspiring talks came from Jon Amies of apetito on the importance of entrepreneurial skills in business, followed by Steve Davis, managing director of Office Evolution, Len Turner, a local businessman and entrepreneur, and finally Tracy Parker, owner of Leykers in Trowbridge.
Each speaker talked about their own experiences to the audience, and focused on hard work, commitment, passion and riding the waves as the keys to having a successful business.
David Baker, GOFISH co-ordinator and chairman of the Trowbridge Town Team, said: “The attendance exceeded our expectations and all the young people were a credit to themselves and GOFISH.
“To name a few we had a budding ice cream vendor who is very passionate and committed, a future blacksmith, a children’s wear designer and a young man who wants to make upcycled furniture.”
Ulanda, one of the youngest attendee’s at 15 years old, said: “I’ve learnt that running your own business isn’t always predictable and its important to learn from your mistakes. Networking is also very important.”
Natalia, one of GOFISH’s Young Ambassadors said: “The mixture of speakers was perfect, from key employees of large businesses to owners of smaller independent shops.”
Nicola, GOFISH’s social media and marketing ambassador, who runs her own business, Nicola Davis Crafts, said: “Even though I already run my own successful business, I went home more inspired than ever.
“This evening challenged me to think about how large I want my business to grow, and what I need to do to get there.
“I love being a part of GOFISH and it’s also amazing to see other young entrepreneurs who are just starting their businesses having such a great opportunity to learn.”
