CHIPPENHAM MP Michelle Donelan has supported a coffee morning at the Seven Stars public house in Winsley to raise funds for a local charity.

Kate Hooper, owner of the Seven Stars and her friends Clare and Ed Cobb, hosted a coffee and cake morning for We Hear You (WHY), the Frome-based cancer counselling charity, which raised £243.

She Said: “The event was very successful and our goal is to raise a massive £25,000 for the charity.”

The event on Friday, March 8 was just one of their fundraising events planned for the year.

Mrs Hooper is part of a 28-strong team that will be taking on the Three Peaks Challenge on August 31 and September 1 to raise funds for WHY.

She’s also planning an Easter Egg Hunt in Winsley from April 6-22, with maps at £3.50 available from the Seven Stars, and 540 Easter eggs available to those taking part.

Michelle Donelan MP said: “It was wonderful to support the fundraiser. Most of us have lost people to cancer and I know many people that would have benefited from WHY’s services. Well done to Kate and Claire for organising the event in aid of such a wonderful charity.”

The Winsley pub was very busy with people helping raise money for WHY, which provides emotional support to patients, families, friends and carers who have been affected by cancer or any other life-threatening condition.

Johnny Kidney, the local Wiltshire Council ward member for Winsley and Westwood also attended to show his support for the charity.
