KEEN young readers in Calne will be meeting up to discuss the remarkable new novels short-listed for this year's CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Children's Book Awards.

They are shadowing the judging process by discussing and reviewing the books on each shortlist selected by CILIP's panel of librarian judges.

This new young adult book group, organised by Kelly Fuller at Calne Library, is for readers from year 7 to sixth form - and she says as well as being fun, it helps develop your literary critical thinking skills.

The next meeting is Saturday March 30 at 12 noon when the short list is revealed, and the final meeting will be Saturday June 22 - when the official winners are announced.

The CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway medals are the UK's oldest and most prestigious children's book awards.
