RESIDENTS and staff at Henford House care home in Warminster joined forces with the local Royal British Legion to celebrate St Patrick’s Day.

Saint Patrick’s Day is a cultural and religious celebration held on March 17 and celebrates the Irish heritage and culture.

In honour of Emerald Isle’s patron saint staff, residents and the RBL guests marked the day by giving the celebrations a gourmet twist.

The chef at the home prepared a traditional lunch of Irish stew, Steak and Guinness Pie and Guinness Sponge with Irish Cream.

Irish music was enjoyed in the dining room whilst eating lunch and residents and guests enjoyed Irish Whiskey or a pint of Guinness.

General Manager, Karen Sawyer said: “The people who live and work here at Henford House have really enjoyed today’s festivities.

“Everyone enjoyed their lunch and some residents even took part in a spot of dressing up in the afternoon. It has been great fun.”

St Patrick’s Day celebrations generally involve public parades and festivals, cèilidhs, and the wearing of green attire or shamrocks, a three-leaved plant formerly used to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish.
