A VIOLENT incident took place in a Wiltshire town last night leaving a man with serious head injuries.

Two men have been arrested following the suspected assault in the town of Melksham.

Officers were called to an address on Murray Walk in the town at around 11.30pm yesterday (March 30) where a man in his thirties was found with serious head injuries.

The man, who is from the town, was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol where he is being treated .

Two men, aged 63 and 34, from Melksham have been arrested on suspicion of GBH and are currently in custody.

DI Nicki Davey said: "We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in this area of Melksham around this time last night.

"Perhaps you saw or heard an altercation or know any information. Or, if you were in the vicinity at the relevant time and have dashcam footage from your vehicle - if so please contact us."
