St Laurence School is aiming to raise £60,000 to help equip three new state-of-the-art science laboratories.
Up to £600,000 of the funding for the build has come from a Community Infrastructure Levy and some from reserves, but the school is facing the £60,000 shortfall.
The new science block will house four classrooms, three of which will be labs.
It is expected to be completed by the end of November and be officially opened in December or the new year.
To mark the commencement of construction work, Bradford on Avon Mayor, Cllr Alex Kay, visited the school and turned the first turf in a groundbreaking ceremony.
All donators will be recognised with your family, company name printed on a Gudgeon metal token and added to the donor recognition wall within the new science building. To donate call 01225 309500 or go to donatemyschool.com/project/1737
