STAFF from a Melksham opticians have been thanked by The Lullaby Trust, a charity that supports bereaved families dealing with sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and promotes expert advice on safer baby sleep, for a recent donation.

Staff at Specsavers on Bank Street channelled their inner bakers and held a bake-off competition to raise funds for the charity. The team created all sorts of beautifully baked goods including chocolate cupcakes, a gingerbread house and a giant Bakewell tart.

"The bake-off was a really fun way to raise money for a truly heart-warming charity," said Melksham Specsavers store director Tom Mogford. "It was a wonderful way to showcase the team’s talent and the variety of bakes was truly impressive.

"The Lullaby Trust is such an important cause, we’ve all felt inspired by the work they do and it’s an honour to raise £50 with the bake-off their behalf."

The charity raises awareness of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) through running campaigns, providing expert advice on safer sleep for babies and offering emotional support for bereaved families.
