AN anaerobic digestion facility near Warminster is converting food waste from Guernsey.
Malaby Biogas Ltd is using the waste to produce energy while the remaining sludge becomes fertiliser.
The food waste comes from a £32 million waste transfer station at Longue Hougue on the Channel Island.
The conversion is taking place at Malaby Biogas’s facility at Bore Hill Farm on the Deverill Road at Warminster.
Managing director Thomas Minter said: “We are taking about four tanker loads a week from Guernsey.”
The award-winning renewable energy business has been at the forefront of anaerobic digestion innovation since 2008.
Diverting food waste from landfill, the Bore Hill Farm Biodigester provides a combined waste disposal and energy generation solution in one safe, clean and highly-efficient process.
