A CARER at Trowbridge Oaks Care Home went for the big chop this week as she donated her pony tail to charity.
Lauren Kirk asked hairdresser Linda Coles to do the honours on Tuesday morning at the care home and more than seven inches of hair was cut off.
Miss Kirk will now be donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity who makes wigs for children who have lost their own hair through illnesses and treatments.
Miss Kirk said: “It’s really strange as I am so used to having really long hair.
“I have always wanted to do something like this for charity so I have been letting my hair get as long as possible so I can make a donation.
“It is nice to have a change and my hair grows so quickly in a few weeks it’ll have grown back quite a bit anyway.”
Hairdresser Linda does all residents’ haircuts and has a salon within the home. She also does haircuts in residents’ rooms if they are unable to attend the salon.
