THE developer behind the regeneration of the former West Wiltshire District Council offices in Trowbridge, Newland Homes, has been recognised as one of Britain’s best private companies with the fastest-growing profits in the Sunday Times’ BDO Profit Track 100.

This is the second time that the independent housebuilder has been recognised in this exclusive list of some of the brightest and best household names in the country and the business was ranked at number 89 nationally.

However, across the businesses based in the South West, Newland Homes came at number six. The Gloucester-based company previously made the list in 2005.

Newland Homes was praised in The Sunday Times for its approach in acquiring smaller plots and former industrial, commercial or derelict sites for development.

This strategic approach has earned the company a deserved reputation for well-built homes in good locations which add to their existing local communities.

Across Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Devon, Newland Homes has taken areas which have been in need of regeneration and often attracted anti-social behaviour and vandalism, including the former police station in Frome, and turned them into developments that have been sought-after by local buyers.

In Trowbridge, the company is building 79 new homes on the former West Wiltshire District Council offices site in Bradley Road which were demolished in 2014. The development has included the removal of a former nuclear bunker shelter under the old office complex.

Equally, former industrial sites which have become eyesores to their local communities, such as the former Barnhill quarry in Chipping Sodbury, have been transformed into areas that now compliment their surroundings.

Managing Director David Foreman said: “We’re very pleased to have been recognised in this year’s Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100.

“This accolade is testament to the hard work and attention to detail that every staff member in every part of the business puts in, from those identifying new sites, to our dedicated design team, our building managers and the sales team who look after each and every purchaser as if they’re one of our own family.

"Considering we’re one of the smallest companies on the list, every person plays a large part in the success of Newland Homes.

“Newland Homes is a very determined and ambitious company and we pride ourselves on making developments work where other housebuilders would walk away.

“We currently have sites in Chipping Sodbury, Frome and Cheltenham that had previously been considered too ambitious by other developers.

"However, these have proven to be some of our most exciting and impressive projects due to their design and how we have worked with the community and stakeholders to deliver homes that meet immediate housing needs, as well as bringing positive change to the wider community.”

Formed in 1991, Newland Homes has built over 3,100 homes in the past 28 years across the South West.

Jeremy Drew, Director of Design, added: “Our careful and considered approach goes through everything we do and means that we strive to build quality homes that get it right first time.

“We aim to work with communities to build homes that meet the needs of local people and ones that they will want to live in for many years to come.

“This ranking shows that our balance of building the right homes, in the right place and to a high quality is one that puts us in a stable position for growth for many more years to come.”
