WARMINSTER artist Jac Fairbarn welcomed people to the opening of her gallery and exhibition space on Saturday, only months after moving to the town.

"It has all happened so fast it is amazing," said the artist, who has come to Wiltshire from Sussex and loves Warminster. "I have got a really good range of local artists who have come in to exhibit here and sell their work.

"There is some amazing talent around and the landscape is so inspiring. Warminster is a lovely town and the people are so friendly."

Mayor Tony Nicklin cut the tape to officially open Silver Street Arts, on Silver Street, meaning that part of town is now completely full of shops and business featuring art, antiques and other creative companies.

Among local artists currently exhibiting who were at the opening were fused glass artist and sculptor Jenny Merritt, goldsmith/jewellery designer Heather Streeter, watercolourist Peter French, reclaimed wood creative Emma-Jane and painter Amanda Collier-Rose.
