TECHNOLOGICAL advancements are being made in West Berkshire thanks to the launch of 5G testing.
Newbury is one of only six towns or cities in the UK to benefit from Vodafone's latest efforts.
The wireless technology has a fast response time, making it ideal for connecting machinery, healthcare systems, and even traffic lights.
Gabrielle Mancini, West Berkshire Council’s economic development officer, said: “This is absolutely fantastic news for Newbury and we’re really excited about the opportunities this technology will offer our residents and businesses.
“The speeds and connectivity that will come with 5G will make Newbury an even better place to do business and will also bring about new possibilities for service delivery for us as a local authority.
“Not only this, but we see this move as yet another vote of confidence in Newbury from one of the district’s largest employers.
“Above all, this shows that local businesses agree that West Berkshire is well and truly open for business.”
