Wiltshire Heights care home is celebrating achieving the highest rating by their industry regulator, the Care Quality Commission.

During an inspection, which took place in January, the team were praised around their cohesive working practices, dignified approach to care and the “glowing” testimonials from people who have experienced the service either first hand or as a family member of a resident.

Sharon Adams, home manager of Wiltshire Heights said: “The team we have here are amazing and our rating truly reflects this.

“I was also overwhelmed by support from healthcare professionals, our residents and relatives, past and present, who took the time to come and speak to the inspectors during their visit.

“It really showed that everyone wanted to ensure that our inspectors knew exactly what life is like here and to recognise all of the great work we do.

“I am proud to be the manager in such a warm, welcoming and respectful home.”

The CQC inspect care providers in five categories including safe, caring, responsive, effective and well led with each section generating its own rating.

The home achieved a good rating in safe, effective and well led and an outstanding rating in caring and responsive, giving the home the overall rating of Outstanding.

The home places an emphasis on community engagement including intergenerational projects with local preschool group, Little Nightingales and the pupils of local schools in the area.

The home empowers residents to take control of their lives within the home through regular meetings where the residents discuss many aspects of life in the home including activities that they would like to see take place.

One of these meetings started the process which resulted in the launch of the Tuesday Matinee Club hosted by Wiltshire Heights at St Margaret’s Hall on the first Tuesday of every month, showing current films in a dementia friendly setting.

These activities get the residents together and gets them engaging in stimulating activities.

Opened in 2013, Wiltshire Heights provides 24 hour residential, nursing, dementia and respite care.
