FIRE and rescue crews were called out in the early hours of Easter Sunday to a building fire in Newtown, Trowbridge.

Fire Control received several calls to what initially appeared to be a fence alight.

Fire crews from Trowbridge and Melksham Fire Stations attended.

The fire actually involved a fence and an aviary which was used as storage, which unfortunately was completely destroyed by fire.

The fire also spread to a single storey bathroom extension too.

The fire was extinguished using 1 hose reel, small gear,  a triple extension ladder and a thermal imaging camera - and was under control by just after 4am.

On Easter Saturday there was  an out of control bonfire on Bath Road, Devizes. 

A fire crew from Melksham was initially mobilised and on arrival smoke and flames were found to be issuing.

The fire was an out of control bonfire containing a large amount of pallets, and they requested assistance for a further fire engine mobilised from Pewsey Fire Station.

The fire then also spread to some storage containers containing wooden furniture and more pallets. The fire was extinguished using one main jet, water supply from a hydrant and two firefighters in breathing apparatus. The fire was under control before midnight.

Also on Saturday thre was a bonfire that needed being put out in Winterbourne Monkton. At 4.30pm a crew from Marlborough was sent out and put out any remaing fire which threatened surrounding trees.

In Swindon crews attended a fire in a field off of Tadpole Lane, Blunsdon. Crews used beaters to extinguish the blaze.

And on Good Friday there was a barn fire at Wroughton in the early evening which fire crews put out.
