A BASSETT constable will take on the London Marathon this weekend wearing his full body armour.
PC Paul Croft, who is based at Royal Wootton Bassett police station, is attempting to break his second world record in less than 12 months.
Last year the officer broke the record for running a half marathon in the heavy riot gear of overalls, shield and helmet when he took on the Swindon New Half Marathon in September.
On Sunday, he will attempt to repeat the feat in London, this time tackling a full 26-mile marathon.
He will be running for mental health charity Mind.
Mr Croft said: “My aim is to show that although I may be feeling uncomfortable doing the race it's nothing compared to the daily challenges of mental health issues.”
Chief Constable Kier Pritchard said he was in awe of his officer and the determination to complete the record.
