A MAN tried to lure a  17-year-old girl into his car, police have revealed.


Officers are investigating the incident in Audley Way, Chippenham, on Monday when the driver tried to beckon her over to his car. 


She ignored the man and he got out of the car at the end of the road, following her on foot until she reached the garage at Lowden Road when he walked away. 


The man is described as Asian, aged in his 30s with short dark hair and a dark beard. He was wearing a grey jumper, black trousers and black shoes.
The vehicle was a white car with no hub caps or number plates.


Acting Inspector Don Pocock said: “We are following a number of lines of enquiry in order to identify this man and are carrying out extra patrols in the area. We know that the community will be concerned and we encourage people to approach officers to chat about any worries regarding this incident.


“The teenager did the right thing in not engaging with the man and we ask that parents/guardians remind children of personal safety and stranger danger advice.  
“If you are concerned about someone following you or acting suspiciously please call 999 immediately.  Don't worry about being wrong, we would rather you called and find that everything is okay.


“We are very keen to hear from anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of this incident or the vehicle described. Equally if you have any information which could help us identify this man please contact us.”
