DESPITE the blustery weather caused by Storm Hannah, 12 swift boxes were installed on houses along Ashley Road, Bradford on Avon on Saturday.

The project was organised by members of Bradford on Avon Swift Group and Ashley Road residents, who decided together to install boxes on the houses in the neighbourhood.

The boxes were crafted by Roger Beckett and installed by local builder Dave Swarbrick before the home owners have finished them off in different ways.

Bradford on Avon Mayor, Cllr Alex Kay made a tour of the swift boxes with the Swift Group and talked with several other residents.

She said: “The boxes should make good homes for the swifts who will start arriving soon, apparently a couple have been seen in Salisbury. Other small birds, like the sparrow and bats may take up residence. The response has been really positive and nearly all of the neighbours wanted one.”
