Members of the Melksham Swordfish Amateur Swimming Club have welcomed the addition of spectator seating at the new Melksham Campus swimming pool.

Cllr John Thomson, the Wiltshire Council cabinet member for the campus programme, revealed they have added 100 seats for spectators to their plans for the new pool.

It will enable parents, and other members of the public, to sit at the poolside and watch youngsters and adults swimming.

Claire Balecke, chair of the Melksham Swordfish Amateur Swimming Club, which has more than 200 members aged 4-60, said: “We are over the moon. It means we will be able to use the new pool for our swimming galas instead of having to go elsewhere.”

The plans also include a large meeting room and a large community/party room on the first floor. A decision is expected on the plans by August 31, with construction set to begin in early 2020 for completion by mid-2021.
