IT may have rained on the day but the Abicare Group provided a ray of sunshine at Bowerhill Village Hall with a scrumptious Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

The party for senior citizens from the local area was filled to the brim with delicious sandwiches, cakes, teas and coffees.

Abicare Group spokeswoman Tamara Oliver said: “A wonderful time was had by all and activities included nail painting, potting fuchsia and marigold plants and playing games of giant Connect 4.

“Copious amounts of food and drink were consumed, and the cakes were a hit with one client who enjoyed not one, but three.

“One client was having such a wonderful time that she stayed longer than she had originally intended to, although she still made it home in time for her tea.

“Events like this are so important in ensuring that senior citizens continue to engage with, and be a part of, the local community.

“This helps to alleviate isolation and helps with keeping the brain active.”

Staff at the Salisbury-based care agency, which provides at home and live-in care for clients across the south of England and Wales, pride themselves on getting their clients out and about into the community.

As well as providing home care and live-in care, some of the Abicare staff have taken part in a number of charity events, including cycling the equivalent of Mount Everest to raise funds for the Trussell Trust.

Abicare plans to host similar events throughout the year, and everyone, young and old, is welcome to attend.
