Crowds turned out to the Trowbridge Lions Club's annual May Fair which they held on behalf of the town council in Fore street last Saturday.

The event was officially opened by Deputy Mayor, David Cavill with the help of Town Crier, Trevor Heeks, who is also a member of Trowbridge Lions Club.

Mr Heeks was on hand all day acting as master of ceremonies for the event and games which took place.

Starting the morning off and the main act of the event for a number of years, were the Melksham Rock and Roll group followed by Active Trowbridge who got members of the public involved in their games which included throwing balls at a target.

The chilly weather did not stop the display of belly dancing led by Waffa Powell, who also got several bystanders to take part.

An energetic show was performed by dancer Tasha and her version of Zumba and later her dance with ‘sticks’ brought all the way from Los Angeles.

Solo singer Kirsty Clinch was also popular with the crowds.

The rock and roll group rounded off the day with their display of dancing.

A number of stalls set up by local business and charities such as Breakthrough, and Trowbridge Fairtrade Group.

Richard Culverhouse, joint president of Trowbridge Lions Club said: “Luckily the day was dry but somewhat chilly but the local shoppers were kept entertained by the acts during the morning and into the early afternoon.

“Those who listened to solo singer Kirsty Clinch all agreed that she has a talent that deserves to be recognised.

“Together the acts with an array of stalls by local community groups the event was again, an overall success.

"Trowbridge Lions Club has been serving the local community for nearly 50 years and urgently need new members to make sure it continues its work."
