A CHEQUE for £760 will be handed over to for Dorothy House after a Trowbridge woman has had her head shaved in memory of her mother.

Sally Greenhalgh braved the shave in March at Scottie’s Barbers in town on the anniversary of her mum, Mavis Poolman who died 28 years ago aged just 58 after battling with cancer.

Mrs Greenhalgh’s father, Anthony Poolman also died of cancer last May.

Her sister, Jenifer Paradise and husband David Greenhalgh have also had their own battles with cancer.

Mrs Greenhalgh hopes to be presenting the cheque to the charity next week.

She said: "I would like to say thank you to everyone who donated. Even strangers were donating which was really touching. Hopefully the amount will make a difference and it's better than nothing.

“I feel so different about myself now, I feel so beautiful.”
