MICHELLE Donelan MP visited Monkton Park Primary School on Friday (3rd May) to join in on an interactive assembly hosted by Parent Zone and Google to teach children about being safe on the internet.

The “Be Internet Legends” assembly was vibrant and fun and sent a really important message to the children about being internet legends by enjoying the internet whilst looking out for dangers such as phishing scams, keeping their personal data safe and secure and being kind to other users.

The assemblies are part of a wider campaign offering primary school teachers across the UK the chance to offer PHSE Association accredited learning to children. The scheme has so far reached over a million children helping them develop their digital skills and explore the opportunities of the internet more safely.

Michelle said “The internet is a wonderful tool including for educational purposes, however it poses numerous dangers especially for young children so its vital that they can have the know-how and information at their fingertips to stay safe online. The Parent Zone Google Internet Safety Assembly at Monkton Park Primary School was a fantastic fun way to achieve this.”
