WESTBURY residents are being asked to share ideas on how they can best use a community facility in the town.
Wiltshire Council is proposing to transfer the Old Westbury Youth Centre to the Westbury Community Project.
Trustees, funders and Wiltshire Council are meeting to discuss the work which needs completing before the building can be open for local activities and groups.
One of the options being explored for the building is the potential for children’s centre services to be run there later this year.
Cllr Philip Whitehead, cabinet member for finance said: “We are discussing transferring the Old Westbury Youth Centre to the Westbury Community Project so it can be revived as a community focus for the town.“Local people know their area best and we want the community to be involved and have their say in shaping the future of this important building.”
Richard Hatt, hair of the Westbury Community Project said “The early signs for this new working partnership are positive, there is much to do, but this commitment from Wiltshire Council not only encourages the trustees but also our possible funders. I am sure that the WCP and therefore Westbury will benefit enormously.”
Residents should share their ideas to an online survey at www.tinyurl.com/WCPyourviews.
Individuals or companies who would like to contribute financially or with services are asked to make contact with Mr Hatt at Westbury Junior School.
And similarly, any groups who like to book rooms on a regular or infrequent basis need to contact Mr Hatt to reserve spaces.
