Alzheimer’s Support in Trowbridge is looking for people to take part in its annual sponsored walk in June.

This year’s 8.5-mile Walk to Remember on Saturday, June 22 will start in Warminster Park and will take in some of West Wiltshire’s loveliest countryside as it leads up and around the historic Battlesbury Camp hill fort.

There is also a family-friendly Meadow Mile around a lake and nature reserve that is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Both routes start and end at the park where the charity is throwing a free finish line Fun Day with live music, refreshments, stalls and attractions for the whole family.

Alzheimer’s Support Chief Executive Officer Babs Harris said: “We started A Walk to Remember in 2015 and this is the first time we have brought it to the Warminster area. It is a beautiful route and there are amazing views from the top of Battlesbury Hill.

“The town has been incredibly supportive of our new Dementia Centre and Old Silk Works Club so we wanted to do the walk and to host a fun day at the same time - as a thank you and celebration.“A Walk to Remember is a major fundraiser for our work in Wiltshire.

“We hope all our walkers will seek some sponsorship – they will be supporting people with dementia with every step!”

The walk is £10 to enter (£5 for U14s) and all walkers will receive a Walk t-shirt and medal. Sign up at alzheimerswiltshire.org.uk.
