THE new mayor of Melksham is Cllr Jon Hubbard, the Wiltshire Council ward member for Melksham South.
Cllr Hayley Illman was voted in as the new deputy mayor for Melksham at the town council’s annual town council meeting on Monday May 13.
Cllr Hubbard takes over the chain of office from Cllr Adrienne Westbrook, Melksham’s mayor for the past two years.
She said: “I have actually been looking forward to today. It has been a long hard two years.”
Offering his thanks to the outgoing mayor, Cllr Hubbard said: “I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to Adrienne for her hard work and the effort she has put in over the past two years.”
Cllr Hubbard says the council has gone through many changes, including taking on more community services from Wiltshire Council under the asset transfer programme.
He said the town council faces many challenges and new responsibilities.
