A YOUNG man from Yarnbrook has taken his mother to Buckingham Palace to collect his Duke of Edinburgh gold award.
Bradley Jones, 19, asked his mum Carole, to be his ‘plus one’ at the presentation ceremony in London on Wednesday May 22.
The Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, presented the awards to mark the achievements of thousands of young people.
Mrs Jones said: “I’m unbelievably proud of Bradley. He has gone through some hard times while he was doing the award.”
It has taken Mr Jones, from Westbury Road, Yarnbrook, several years to achieve the coveted award.
In the process, he volunteered to help out at the Bath Cats & Dogs Home in Claverton, and learned a new skill, how to play the guitar, up to grade five level.
