WESTBURY and Bradford on Avon are two of the eight worst polluted areas in Wiltshire, and their communities are backing a move to upgrade the quality of the air people breathe in the town centres.
Over the years there have been repeated calls for bypasses for both towns, but new Westbury mayor Mike Sutton says: “The vague promises that sometime in the future traffic could be diverted away from the town is akin to putting off any action.”
Wiltshire Council has pledged to revamp its air quality strategy.
