Wiltshire Federation of Young Farmers Clubs recently had a successful 2019 County Rally at Battens Farm, Allington Chippenham, by kind permission of Mr Mike Hawker and Meadow Quality.

Even though Storm Hannah did her best to blow things away, all 72 competitions planned for the day were completed, everything from cooking, flower arranging, horse judging, brick laying, archery, wheelbarrow racing, farm safety skills, first aid to the grand finale of the Tug of War.

There were over 300 entries displaying decorated boots, photography, cookery, garden benches, Lego models and much more, all at very high standards making the judges' jobs just a little bit harder.

The final scores were very close after the 90 competitions held throughout the year.

Overall Chippenham managed to stop Malmesbury’s three year winning streak by 213 points, less than 2.5 points per competition.

The final results were: 1 Chippenham 8,292 pts; 2 Malmesbury 8,079.5; 3 Purton & Cricklade 7,902; 4 Devizes 6,811; 5 Calne 4,696.

The celebrations were rounded off with a Rally Dance on the evening with DJ Landrover.

Congratulations to Chippenham YFC and Good Luck to everyone going through to the Area Competitions finals on Sunday June 9 at Kingston Maurward, Dorchester and National Finals in July & September.

Wiltshire YFC is fully self funding and the Rally is our largest fundraiser each year. We hope that this year’s Rally has raised enough to help us break even for the year. Very many thanks to everyone who sponsored us and attended on the day. Your support is very much appreciated.
